Beer Tasting Notes works fully offline without an account. In that mode, your notes,
photos, and beer labels are stored only in the app's local database on your device and
are never sent to us or anyone else. The sections below describe the data involved once
you choose to enable an optional feature.
Account and cloud sync (optional)
If you create an account to enable cloud sync, we collect your email address to
authenticate you. Once signed in, your tasting notes - including beer and brewery
details, your personal notes, tags, and any photos or beer labels you've attached - are
synced to our cloud database and storage, provided by Supabase, so they stay backed up
and available across your devices. This data is only accessible to your account and is
not shared with third parties. You can stop syncing at any time by signing out; your
local data on-device is unaffected.
Untappd integration (optional)
If you choose to connect your Untappd account, the app uses Untappd's sign-in flow to
obtain an access token and your Untappd username, which are stored locally on your
device only. We use this to let you search Untappd for beers and breweries and to show
your recent Untappd check-ins inside the app. We do not receive or store your Untappd
password, and this data is not synced to our cloud service.
Camera and photo library access
If you choose to attach a photo or beer label to a note, you'll be asked for camera or
photo library access. These images are stored on your device (and, if cloud sync is
enabled, in your private cloud storage as described above) - they are never shared
publicly or with anyone other than you.
Your data, your control
You can delete individual notes, photos, or your entire account at any time from within
the app. Deleting your account removes your synced data from our cloud service. To
request deletion of your data or ask any privacy question, contact us using the details
on our contact page.
